The Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission on Wednesday voted to accept a consulting firm's scores of the applications for Arkansas' first medical marijuana dispensaries.

The vote was the final regulatory block for the roll-out of Arkansas’ medical cannabis program.

Officials expect to notify the 32 successful dispensary applicants in the next few days and issue licenses in the next couple of weeks.

Arkansans legalized medical marijuana in 2016, approving Amendment 98 to the Arkansas Constitution. Legal and regulatory delays have stalled the implementation of the drug, which state officials expect to hit the market in April.
