Wyrick selected as LR vice mayor

Ward 7 City Director B.J. Wyrick has been chosen by her fellow board members to be Little Rock's new vice mayor.

Wyrick will take over the two-year position immediately, replacing Ward 3 City Director Kathy Webb. Ward 7 is in southwest Little Rock.

The Board of Directors went into closed executive session at Tuesday's meeting to discuss who to appoint to the role. The board members also chose which city-appointed committees each of them would be a liaison to.

Wyrick retired from her career with the state in October 2017. She was first elected to the Board of Directors in 1993 and also served as vice mayor in 1999 and 2000.

A vice mayor serves in the mayor's absence, presiding over board meetings when the mayor is unable to do so.
