Cinema and swing

The Hot Club of San Francisco performs to accompany two vintage silent stop-action animation films from the 1920s by Ladislaw Starewicz and Charley Bowers in "Cinema Vivant," 7 p.m. Thursday, and for a Swing Dance Party, 7 p.m. Friday in Baum Walker Hall at Fayetteville's Walton Arts Center, 495 W. Dickson St. Tickets for each are $10. They're part of the center's 10x10 Arts Series, which include a 6 p.m. pre-show Creative Conversation and a post-show party in the Walker Atrium. Organ recital

Michael Kleinschmidt, canon musician (director of music) of St. Mark's Cathedral, Seattle, will give a recital at 8 p.m. Friday on the Nichols/Simpson organ at Christ Episcopal Church, 509 Scott St., Little Rock, under the auspices of the Central Arkansas Chapter, American Guild of Organists. The program: Prelude and Fugue in D major, BWV 532; "Christ unser Herr zum Jordan kam," BWV 684; Passacaglia in c minor, BWV 582; and the Prelude and Fugue in E-flat major, BWV 552, by J.S. Bach; "Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern," BuxWV 223, by Dieterich Buxtehude; Fantasy in A major by Cesar Franck; and Two Pièces de Fantaisie by Louis Vierne. Admission is free. 'Life Changes'

"Life Changes," contemporary abstract expressionist paintings by Brenda Fowler that "[embrace] the essence of an ever-changing life, as well as the emotions experienced throughout these changes," will go on display and be for sale with a 2nd Friday Art Night reception, 5-8 p.m. Friday in the Gallery of Little Rock's Christ Episcopal Church. Boomtown Opry

Josh Davis, Miller-Fite (Jennifer Miller and Julie Fite), Rick Jones, Leslie Word, April Sanders and Joe Presto are the featured performers for Saturday's "Legends Show" edition of the Boomtown Opry, 7 p.m., at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium, 100 W. Eighth St., El Dorado. Tickets are $10, free for children 12 and younger. A portion of the proceeds benefits the El Dorado Boys & Girls Club. Illustrative exhibit

A "Meet the Artist and the Author Reception," 1:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday, features illustrations that Blytheville artist Angela F.M. Trotter created for M.C. Gore's 2018 book All Is Assuredly Well at the Ritz Gallery, 306 W. Main St., Blytheville, under the auspices of the Arts Council of Mississippi County. At 2:30 Trotter will read the book; meanwhile, Gore will discuss it and future projects in the nearby Ritz Auditorium. Admission to the reception and the exhibit, up through Jan. 31, is free. Arkansongs expands

Red River Radio, based at Louisiana State University, Shreveport, is now broadcasting Arkansongs, Stephen Koch's long-running radio program dedicated to The Natural State's musical heritage, 9:06 p.m. Tuesdays on affiliates in south Arkansas, northwest Louisiana, eastern Texas and the southernmost corner of Oklahoma. The show has been on the air for 20 years; the producer is Keith Merckx.
