Hot Springs man charged with murder

A 26-year-old Hot Springs man was arrested Thursday on a second-degree murder charge, the day after police discovered a deceased male inside a Cooper Street home.

Christopher Dean Harnar is additionally charged with two counts of aggravated assault, and a firearm offense, a news release by the Hot Springs Police Department states.

According to the release, around 10 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to 333 Cooper St. in response to a shooting. Upon arrival officers located the body of James David Allen Echols, 27.

No motive in the killing is known at this time, the release states. Harnar is being held at the Garland County jail on a $250,000 bond.
