McPherson Camp
The McPherson Camp, the local chapter of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, will meet at 6:30 p.m. July 15 at Foghorn's, 2221 W. Walnut St. in Rogers. The SUV is a patriotic, fraternal organization that is open to males over the age of 18 who are descended from Union soldiers or sailors.

Pieces 'N Patches
The Pieces 'N Patches quilt group will meet at 10 a.m. July 15 at First Presbyterian Church, 1901 S. 26th St. in Rogers. There will be a workshop led by Catherine Redford of Naperville, Ill. The workshop is titled "Walking Foot Quilting, Going Beyond the Ditch."
There is a charge for nonmembers.
The group meets at 12:30 p.m. on the first Monday of each month for programs and at 10 a.m. on the third Monday for workshops. Visitors are welcome.

Stitched
Stitched With Love will meet at 9:30 a.m. July 16 at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, 1300 N. Davis St. in Pea Ridge. The club is a nonprofit organization formed for the purpose of sewing quilts, hats and pillows for children at Arkansas Children's Hospital. New members are welcome.
Bring completed quilts and batting scraps to stuff pillows, along with scissors to cut batting for new kits.

Democrats
The Senior Democrats of Northwest Arkansas will meet July 16 at Western Sizzlin' in Springdale. Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by the meeting at noon. Dak Kees, U.S. attorney for the Western District of Arkansas, will be the speaker. Kees has an illustrious career in the military, as an ethics compliance officer for Walmart and as a member of the Hutchinson Law Firm. He will be discussing hate crimes in Arkansas.

The Benton County Republican Women's Club will meet at noon July 16 at the Pleasant Crossing Golden Corral in Rogers. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m. The featured speaker is Darren Myers of Freedom Encounter. This nonprofit organization is currently building the Freedom Encounter Museum in Branson, Mo. The Sons of Union Veterans will meet July 18 at Western Sizzlin', 5720 Rogers Ave. in Fort Smith. Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. and the meeting at 7 p.m.
The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War is an fraternal organization dedicated to keeping the memory alive for those men from Arkansas that fought for the United States during the Civil War. The meeting is open to all.

Nature Society
The Flower, Garden and Nature Society of Northwest Arkansas will welcome Carole Anne Rose of Sweden Creek Farm at 10 a.m. July 20 at Northwest Technical Institute in the student center at 709 S. Old Missouri Road in Springdale.
Rose will speak on shiitake mushrooms. She and Curly Miller combined their talents and love of the land to meet the challenges necessary to produce their organic, certified (by Oregon Tilth) shiitakes year-round.

Ostomates
The Northwest Arkansas Ostomy Support Group meeting is July 21 at Hope Cancer Resources, 5835 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale. There will be an education and information meeting that starts at 1 p.m., and at 2 p.m. the full meeting starts. This month will be a presentation on new information learned at the annual United Ostomy Associations of America meeting.

Orchids
The Orchid Society of the Ozarks will meet at 1:30 p.m. July 21 at Northwest Technical Institute, 709 S. Old Missouri Road in Springdale. Newcomers are invited to attend, and there will be time to question experienced growers.
The group meets on the third Sunday of each month. The speaker at the Aug. 18 meeting will be Fred Clarke of Sunset Valley Orchids.
The objective of the society is to stimulate interest in orchids and their culture. Frequent presentations by growers offer education and plants for sale. Monthly judging displays often include 30 to 40 blooming plants, while monthly raffles offer orchids and supplies for new and experienced growers.

Women Voters
The League of Women Voters of Washington County will hold a fundraiser and celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. July 27 at Mermaids Seafood Restaurant, 2217 College Ave. in Fayetteville.
The club will observe "A More Perfect Century: Celebrating a Century of the 19th Amendment in Arkansas." In June 1919, Congress passed a women's suffrage amendment to the U.S. Constitution and submitted it to the states for ratification. After passing by a vote of 74 to 15 on July 28,1919, the State Legislature approved this amendment thus making Arkansas the 12th state to ratify the 19th Amendment.
Tickets to the celebration are $50, and include appetizers, beer and wine.

Genealogists
The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. July 22 at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 S. Main St. Tony Wappel, Washington County archivist, will present a program on researching genealogical records at the Washington County Courthouse. Everyone is welcome.

Military Officers
The Bella Vista Chapter of Military Officers Association of America will hold its bi-monthly membership meeting beginning with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 p.m. July 23 at Concordia Retirement Center's main building, 1 Concordia Drive. Guest speaker Shilo Schlueterman will speak on "Service Dogs for Disabled Veterans."

Members and guests are welcome to attend, as are current and former military officers of the armed forces and the U.S. Coast Guard. Members are encouraged to bring friends and family.
Stroke
The Different Strokes/Different Folks Support Group meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista. All stroke or traumatic brain injury survivors, their family, friends and caregivers are welcome to attend.
The next meeting will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. July 23.
