King's Mouth

King's Mouth, an installation by Wayne Coyne, artist and front man of the rock band The Flaming Lips, goes on display Wednesday at 115 W. Emma Ave., Springdale. It's an Off-Site project of the Arts Center of the Ozarks, made possible through a gift by the Tyson Family Foundation. An opening reception is set for 6 p.m. Thursday.

According to a news release, King's Mouth is "an enormous metallic head, beckoning visitors to crawl inside its foam mouth, kick back, and experience a cascading LED light show synchronized to Flaming Lips music" that debuted in 2015 at Baltimore's American Visionary Art Museum. To accompany the sculpture, Coyne has concocted a creation myth that he illustrated with a series of drawings and multi-media collages.

"The Group Exhibition," on display 2-9 p.m. Wednesday, 2-11 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 1-7 p.m. Sunday through Aug. 23, will also include works by area artists Kat Wilson, Dillion Dooms and Sasha Rayevskiy. Admission is free. Call (479) 751-5441, email info@acozarks.org or visit acozarks.org.
