Springdale-based Tyson Foods has announced it will fund $1 million in DonorsChoose.org projects for 46 school districts in 37 communities in which Tyson operates. That includes multiple districts in Arkansas.
Between Aug. 1 and Jan. 29, Tyson will fully fund projects posted by teachers in qualifying Tyson school districts who request up to $1,000 in resources for their prekindergarten-through-12th-grade classrooms. Funding of up to $26,388 is allocated for each Tyson plant community except for Springdale's School District for which $50,000 has been earmarked.
Besides Springdale, the other Arkansas districts are Rogers, Fayetteville, Pine Bluff, Dollarway, Watson Chapel, Spring Hill, Blevins, Hope, Dardanelle and Waldron school districts.
DonorsChoose.org -- founded in 2000 by a Bronx, N.Y, teacher -- is an online platform on which teachers across the nation can ask for financial support for the classroom projects. Donors give to the projects that inspire them.
