Authorities said they arrested a man in connection with a North Little Rock homicide and kidnapping that took place earlier this month following a pursuit Wednesday morning.

Joe Eugene Vincent, 54, was arrested in Little Rock following a multi-agency pursuit involving U.S. marshals and Jacksonville police, according to a news release by North Little Rock police.

The chase began at about 9 a.m. when U.S. marshals requested Jacksonville police conduct a traffic stop on Vincent’s vehicle, authorities said.

Vincent reportedly refused to stop, ultimately pulling off the road at Interstate 30 near 65th Street in Little Rock and fleeing on foot, according to a second release provided Wednesday afternoon by North Little Rock police.

Officers apprehended the man and transported him to Pulaski County jail, the release states.

“We would like to thank the Federal and local surrounding agencies for their assistance in the apprehension of Mr. Vincent,” Sgt. Amy Cooper, North Little Rock police spokeswoman, said in the release.

Vincent is a suspect in a June 15 home invasion that resulted in the shooting death of James Harold Griffin, 54, of North Little Rock. Susan Lee Smith, 35, was forcibly taken from the home, located in the Keller Mobile Home Park, 3507 E. Washington Ave., lot 53, by the two men who broke in.

Smith was found safe the next day.

Vincent remained in the jail early Wednesday afternoon, according to an online jail roster. He faces one count each of first-degree murder, kidnapping and aggravated residential burglary, police said. He will appear in North Little Rock District Court on Thursday morning.

The release did not include any information about additional suspects.
