Losing Patients

SEARCY — The Searcy Summer Dinner Theatre, Harding University’s summer community-based theater program, will present Losing Patients at 6:30 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday in the Ulrey Performing Arts Center at Harding. July 4th Ranch Hand Show

EL PASO — The CrossRoads Cowboy Church Horse Team will host the July 4th Ranch Hand Show at the Two Bar Two Arena, 3071 Arkansas 5. Events will include ranch sorting, ranch doctoring, ranch cutting and a jackpot bareback barrel race. The top four teams will return for a final round at 4 p.m. The entry fee is $100 per four-person team, with a 50 percent payback,. First-place buckles and reserve buckles will be awarded. Picnic in the Park

POCAHONTAS — Davidsonville Historic State Park, 7953 Arkansas 166 S., will present Picnic in the Park from 1-3 p.m. on the Visitor Center Porch. Stop by Davidsonville to join staff members as they make homemade ice cream the old-fashioned way. While the ice cream chills, visitors will make a splash by playing water-balloon volleyball. Thunder on Thunderbird Fireworks Show

CHEROKEE VILLAGE — FNBC in Ash Flat is the presenting sponsor of Cherokee Village’s Thunder on Thunderbird Fireworks Show, set for 7 p.m. July 4 at the Lake Thunderbird Dam. The event will kick off at 7 p.m. with the annual patriotic boat parade around Lake Thunderbird, followed by the fireworks at approximately 9 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase near the marina. The community is invited to attend and bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. The River 98.3 will broadcast patriotic music to go with the fireworks.

Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Extravaganza

BALD KNOB — Foothills Lane of Lights will present an Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Extravaganza from 4-10 p.m. July 4 in the court yard in downtown Bald Knob. The event, with free admission to the public, will honor all veterans, active and nonactive. The festivities will feature food for purchase, entertainment, a Bago Tournament (with an entry fee), a 50/50 Drawing ($2 per ticket), a fireworks show, a Cake Walk ($1 per walk), Watermelon Eating and Watermelon Seed Spitting contests with prizes, a water park/bounce houses and more. All proceeds will benefit the Foothills Lane of Lights.

4th of July Festival at The Bay

Melissa Wilkinson Exhibit

BATESVILLE — The Batesville Area Arts Council presents The Other Side of Nothing: Works by Melissa Wilkinson through July 27 at the BAAC Gallery on Main, 226 E. Main St. The exhibit features a series of watercolor paintings relating to the artist’s interest in dichotomies. Wilkinson is an associate professor of art and painting at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Herb Medicine Used in the Civil War

Painting Class

ASH FLAT — The Continuing Education program at Ozarka College in Ash Flat will offer a painting course, taught by Angela Phipps, from 5-7:30 p.m. July 12. The class’s project will be an 8-by-11-inch watercolor painting of a wildflower landscape. The class fee is $25 or $20 for ages 60 and older, with all supplies included.
