There was an alien invasion at the Little Rock Marriott hotel on March 1. Luckily, the "invaders" were part of a VIP party honoring sponsors of the Little Rock Marathon.

The annual marathon is known for its fun themes. This year it was "A Race Odyssey," inspired by the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Guests gathered in the Pinnacle Room of the hotel overlooking downtown Little Rock and the race course for the meet and greet to kick off the weekend, which included several races and a health and fitness expo. Green lighting on walls and glowing orbs on tables gave an other-worldly feel to the event, which also included drinks and a buffet.

The race, a fundraiser for Little Rock's Parks and Recreation, was overseen by Geneva Lamm and Gina Pharis.
