Easterseals excitement: Yearly Fashion Event warmed hearts, produced smiles and raised funds

As always, it was the Easterseals clients who were the stars. The community members and professional models who also appeared on the runway March 7 were gravy.

This diverse troupe presented the 11th annual Easterseals Arkansas Fashion Event, held at Little Rock's Statehouse Convention Center. Co-chaired by Amy Byford and Angela Strauss and coordinated by Michelle DuVall, the popular event attracted about 600 guests and raised more than $137,000.

The fun began with some silent-auction shopping and sampling of morsels that were passed as well as available on a buffet table. Packaged snacks awaited guests at sponsor tables as well as at the chairs surrounding the catwalk.

Heather Brown and Tyler "Moose" Bjornson, air personalities with KLAL-FM, were masters of ceremonies for the evening. The show was preceded by a video, raffle drawing and a live auction whose items included the customary "closet full of clothes" from participating boutiques; and an American Kennel Club-registered chocolate Labrador puppy.

Boom Kinetic returned to the event as the featured band, providing background music for the fashion promenade. Drawing standing ovations and wild cheers were the members of the Easterseals community, ranging from toddler to adult and including beloved regulars as well as some new faces. Clothing was provided by Matilda Jane, J. Duke & Co., Emphatic, Barbara/Jean, Roberson's Fine Jewelry, Barakat Bespoke, Scarlet, The Toggery, Mr. Wicks, Steamroller Blues, B. Barnett, Q. Clothier, Indigo and Dillard's.
