Whitney Elizabeth Day - Tyler O'Brien Sweeney

Whitney Elizabeth Day and Tyler O'Brien Sweeney exchanged marriage vows at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, March 23, in Paris-Yates Chapel at the University of Mississippi. Paul Sanders, pastor emeritus of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church, officiated.

Jennifer and Glen Day of Little Rock are the parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Gloria and Bob Ralston of Little Rock and the late Jeanne and Thomas Day of Poplarville, Miss.

Parents of the groom are Leigh and Gene Sweeney of Pelham, Ala. His grandparents are Gail Strawn of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; Roy Huckaby of Matthews, N.C.; Rosemary Sweeney of Olive Branch, Miss.; and the late Dennis Sweeney of Memphis.

Two cathedral arrangements of hydrangeas, roses and stock were on each side of the altar and arrangements of hydrangeas, roses, stock, peonies and lilies marked the entrance. Music was by soloist Brooke Pernice and organist Linda Taylor. Scripture was read by Jordan Short.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a soft Mikado silk A-line gown with an off-the-shoulder bodice tied in the back with an obi-style bow. She carried a tight Edwardian bouquet of white peonies and pink ranunculus.

Christina Day of Little Rock was her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Annie Carpenter and Colette Huval, both of New Orleans; Regan Daniel of Kansas City, Mo.; Katie Krouse of Oxford, Miss.; Meredith Mason of Plano, Texas; Heather Neilson of Louisville, Ky.; Hanna Ralston of Cabot, cousin of the bride; and Hannah Sweeney of Pelham, sister of the groom.

They wore sleeveless gowns of black sateen and carried a smaller version of the bridal bouquet.

Kelly Coleman of Birmingham was best man. Groomsmen were Matt Bodine of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; Jean Larroux IV of Memphis; William Miller and Peter Moss III, both of New Orleans; Austin Pillow of Nashville, Tenn.; Hogan Ralston of Cabot, cousin of the bride; Ryan Snow of Oxford; and Pierce Werner of Columbia, S.C.

A reception at The Lyric in Oxford was held after the ceremony. The entrance was framed with magnolia, roses and dahlia and the buffet held a towering arrangement of hydrangeas, roses, peonies and casa blanca lilies. Guest tables were also centered with wedding flowers. Music was by G3 of Memphis.

The bride has a bachelor's degree in integrated marketing communications from the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Chi Omega Tau Chapter, a Chi Omega social chair and member of the American Marketing Association. She is an event planner at Details Rental in Oxford.

The groom has a bachelor's degree in geological engineering from the university where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. He is a geological engineer.

After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple will live in Oxford.
