Safari After Dark raises money for the camp that helps others

Partygoers to Safari After Dark on April 26 were in for an adventure. The on-campus fundraiser for Camp Aldersgate featured a range of activities.

A tiki torch-lined path led to the camp's treehouse, the spot for a VIP pre-party. The main event included hot air balloon rides, African drumming lessons and a fire show. Guests could pose for selfies in front of a safari-theme photo station that included safari hats and props, or pose with actors in various wild animal costumes.

Food included a buffet of charcuterie in the Commons Building -- known as the African Lodge for the evening -- and passed hors d'oeuvres. They included smoked trout toast, green lentil and chorizo samosa and espresso and cinnamon sugar dusted beignets. Drinks included mango mimosas and gin on safari.

The evening ended with African coffee and dessert around a bonfire.

Funds support the camp which is dedicated to serving children with special needs and senior adults in a camp environment.
