Spring Picnic brings life to historic cemetery

The 15th annual Restore in Perpetuity (R.I.P.) Spring Picnic was held on the grounds of Mount Holly Cemetery on April 28. The fundraiser was hosted by the Mount Holly Cemetery Association.

The evening began with appetizers made from recipes in the Mount Holly Cookbook, a silent auction, music by Lark in the Morning and a welcome by association President Susan Borne.

Tours of the cemetery were led by Parkview students Tia Duvall and Tanaiah Sims. Later guests enjoyed a boxed picnic supper while students Jayson Holt, McKinzie Batson and Katlyn Dunbar performed as Nathan and Anne Warren and Eleanor Counts, who are interred in the cemetery.

Money raised from the annual event helps maintain the historic cemetery, founded in 1843.
