BATESVILLE — The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville will have commencement at 7:30 p.m. in Independence Hall. Commencement practice for graduates will be at 3 p.m. in Independence Hall. Graduates are encouraged to attend practice if possible. Mosquito Fest

McCRORY — Mosquito Fest will take place this week in downtown McCrory. Thursday’s activities include Buddy Porter BBQ opening at noon; carnival rides starting at 5 p.m.; Breaking Chains at 7; and Ray Ray’s Dance Floor Jams at 9. Friday will offer the McCrory Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry at 5 p.m., Mallory Everett at 5:30 and The John Sutton Band at 8. Saturday’s schedule includes a Vendors Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Civic Center; Kids’Buzz from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the Mosquito Fest Parade at 11 a.m.; Don Jones and First Love at 11; Bob Brannon II and the Cross Roads Band at noon; The Cummins Prison Band at 2 p.m.; Just Sayin’ at 8; and a fireworks show at 11.

NARFE Meeting

HEBER SPRINGS — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. The potluck luncheon/meeting will be in the First Electric Cooperative Community Room, 150 Industrial Park Road. Dinner Theater

MOUNTAIN VIEW — The Stone County Extension Homemakers Council, along with Mountain View Meals on Wheels, will present their second annual dinner-theater production, Jessa Bell … the wedding … or she done found her one true love. Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with dinner and a dessert bar at 6. There will also be a matinee at 1 p.m. Saturday featuring the dessert bar. Feed the Veterans Pantry

CABOT — The Feed the Veterans Pantry will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 214 Rainbow Drive. The pantry is open to veterans and their family members who are younger than 18. A DD 214 and a photo ID or a Military ID card or VA card are required. Veterans can shop for nonperishable food items and personal-hygiene items. The pantry is open the third Saturday of each month. 7th Sons Poker Run

SEARCY — The third annual 7th Sons Poker Run, hosted by the Punishers 7th Sons Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, will take place Saturday, starting and ending at Sunrise Motorsports, 800 Truman Baker Drive. The schedule is kick stands up at 10 a.m., with the last bike out at 11 a.m. The entry fee is $20 per bike and $10 per passenger or additional poker hand. The event will feature music, food, local vendors, a silent auction and a gun raffle. Raffle tickets are $10, and the winner does not need to be present. Proceeds from the event will benefit local charities.

New Name Rally

CHARLOTTE — The New Name Rally, a free ladies’ event for ages 11 and older, will take place at 5 p.m. in The Eagle’s Nest Lodge at John 3:16 Ministries, 150 Holmes Road. VFW Gun and Knife Show

MELBOURNE — The Melbourne Veterans of Foreign Wars will have its Gun and Knife Show both days at the local post, 584 West St. The event will start at 9 a.m. each day and go through 5 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. May 19. Vendors will sell guns and knives with accessories, as well as leather goods, coins, baked goods and other items. The VFW will raffle a Savage A17 .17 caliber varmint rifle with scope, sling and extra magazines. The admission fee is $5 for ages 12 and older and $4 for veterans. A snack bar will serve breakfast each morning, then burgers, hot dogs and drinks for lunch. The VFW will offer Eddie Eagle Kids Gun Safety classes throughout the day.

Main Street Searcy Farmers’ Market

SEARCY — The Main Street Searcy Farmers’ Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon, or until sold out, Saturdays on the east side of the Courthouse Square. The market will offer a variety of Arkansas-grown seasonal produce, baked goods, farm-fresh eggs, jellies, local honey, handmade soaps, U.S. Department of Agriculture-certified meat, and arts and crafts. Museum of Imagination New Exhibits

BROCKWELL — The Museum of Imagination, 25 Chapel Hill Road in Brockwell, near Melbourne, has two new exhibits for children. A model railroad set, complete with houses, is set up and ready to run. The other exhibit is an interactive display of a carnival-type magnetic snag-it booth, with the captured prize being a mineral specimen. All interactive displays are free.
