Under renovation

While the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock's MacArthur Park, including its Children's Theatre, undergoes a massive renovation, the Children's Theatre will take its acts on the road to stages across Arkansas.

With the closing of the current production of The Hobbit closing today, Children's Theatre on Tour, now dubbed "Children's Theatre Restaged," will send four traveling productions to visit schools, community centers and libraries across the state: Wynken, Blynken and Nod: A Play for the Very Young, Sept. 24-Nov. 1; A Christmas Carol, Nov. 12-Dec. 20; The Arkansas Story Porch, Jan. 14-Feb. 28; and The Wind in the Willows, April 7-May 15, 2020. The shows will also see a limited number of public performances at the Arkansas Arts Center's temporary location in Riverdale and at other community locations. MainStage productions are scheduled to resume in the renovated theater in fall 2022.

Arts Center theater classes will continue; the 2019 Junior Arts Academy and Summer Theatre Academy will be at the MacArthur Park facility this summer and continue at other other community locations during the reconstruction process.
