Road crashes over 2 days in Arkansas kill 4 people

Four people, one a child, died Thursday and Friday in car crashes across Arkansas, according to fatal crash reports.

Michael Anthony Petite, 29, and an unidentified child were killed when a vehicle crossed the centerline on Arkansas 27 near Scottsville in Pope County and struck Petite's Ford Taurus head-on, an Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal crash summary said.

The crash happened at 4:23 p.m. Thursday. Two other people were injured and were taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock for treatment, the report said.

Conditions were listed as dry and clear at the time of the crash.

Michael W. Dixon, 61, died Friday afternoon when his vehicle left Eighth Street in Foreman and struck a tree, a report said. The crash happened at 2:38 p.m. in Little River County. Conditions were dry and clear at the time of the crash, according to the crash report.

Carolyn Pumphrey, 41, of Jonesboro died Friday when her Volkswagen Beetle left the roadway near 7189 Arkansas 141 in Greene County and hit a tree, a report said. A second person in Pumphrey's vehicle was injured in the 3 p.m. crash.

Road conditions were listed as dry, and the sky was cloudy at the time of the crash.
