Ruth Coker Burks, Dr. Patricia Griffen and Jerry C. Jones were honored April 30 at the 56th Annual Humanitarian Awards Celebration. The event was hosted by Just Communities of Arkansas at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Jack Stephens Center and recognizes outstanding social justice champions.
The evening began with a reception and buffet of heavy hors d'oeuvres, appetizers and desserts, followed by a program and awards ceremony. Guests were welcomed by event co-chairmen Mayor Frank Scott Jr. and Dr. Sarah Tariq. Other speakers included Ashley Murguia who spoke about the mission of Just Communities and board co-chairmen Sen. Music including "Wake Up Everybody" and "Rise Up" was by the Henderson Middle School Choir and the Henderson Hollywood Superstars directed by S. Juain Young.
Proceeds from the event benefit the programs and services of Just Communities of Arkansas.
