A twin-engine plane was forced to make an emergency landing at a southern Arkansas regional airport after the plane’s front landing gear stopped working, officials said.
The El Dorado Fire Department said the two flight instructors aboard the plane were not hurt when the plane touched down after 3:30 p.m. on Monday at the South Arkansas Regional Airport.
Video capturing the landing showed the plane’s nose tip forward when it came to a stop along the runway.
Fire Chief Chad Mosby said the pilots were local to the area and had taken off from Goodwin Field a few hours earlier before realizing a problem with their landing equipment.
He attributed the pilot’s skills to the safe landing, which saw them fly around to burn off excess fuel and lighten the plane in case of a violent touchdown.
“They’re both very versed in emergency procedures,” Mosby said. “It was a pretty textbook landing.”
