Aaron Knapp hit a grand slam in the third inning, and Justin Dunn pitched six scoreless innings as the Arkansas Travelers defeated the Springfield Cardinals 8-2 on Wednesday before a crowd of 5,590 at Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo.

Donnie Walton scored on a wild pitch to give the Travelers a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Jordan Cowan drove in Kyle Lewis with an RBI single, and Joe DeCarlo singled in Chris Masical in the third inning before Knapp hit his grand slam, giving Arkansas a 7-0 lead.

The Travelers tacked on another run in the seventh inning as Jake Fraley scored on Nick Zammarelli's base hit.

Springfield put up two runs in the eighth on Conner Capel's home run that also drove in Randy Arozarena.

Dunn (3-2) allowed four hits while striking out seven to get the victory.

Cowan finished with three hits for the Travelers. Walton, Mariscal, Knapp and Zammarelli each had two hits.
