HOPE FOR CHILDREN

CASA honors two women for work with kids in crisis

Thea Sanchez and Debbie Roark were lauded for their work with children in crisis on May 9 at A Night of Hope, held at Wildwood Park.

The women were honored by Pulaski and Perry County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), a nonprofit child welfare organization that advocates for the safety of abused and neglected children in foster care and gives them a voice in court.

Sanchez was named CASA of the Year and Debbie Roark, an investigation administrator for the Crimes Against Children Division of the Arkansas State Police, was given the Starfish Award for her exceptional advocacy work.

A silent auction and reception started the evening. After a buffet dinner, guests were welcomed by Executive Director Darryl Capps and awards were presented. Guest speakers were Anya Mowry, Diamond Jefferson and Sally and Dale Wallace.
