Greek Food Festival

There seems to be some type of festival every week these days in Little Rock, but the Greek Food Festival has been an institution in Little Rock for 35 years. Held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in West Little Rock, this is touted as the largest ethnic festival in Arkansas. For three days, you could sample some excellent Greek foods,

listen to and watch ethnic dancers,

and shop for all types of items from art to jewelry and Greek foods.

My friend Chris and I volunteered this afternoon for the Humane Society of Little Rock, one of the eight local charities who help supply volunteers.

Our task was to work the pastries area helping people with shopping baskets.

It was not a hard task, and we had a great time visiting with a lot of people.

The event officially closed at 3 p.m. but they allowed shoppers for almost an hour afterwards. We then helped break the event down. I also shopped for some items to take home to share with the family, and I did get one of their fabulous gyros for my dinner. The weather last night threw a bit of a damper on the events, but they had a nice crowd today. They have been doing this for so long, they really have it down to a science, from a drive through for a lot of the food items, to free shuttles and more.

You may have missed this years event, but mark your calendar for next May. It is a great event. We were happy to help in what little we did.
