AGRICULTURE

The farmer members of Arkansas-based Riceland Foods Inc. have elected Jennifer James to the board of directors for the North Central Arkansas District. James, a fourth-generation rice, soybean and corn farmer from Newport, is a regional leader in the field of agriculture and sustainability. Her district is comprised of Newport, Tuckerman, Hickory Ridge, Weiner, Fair Oaks and Waldenburg. She takes over the seat held for the past 35 years by Joe Rennicke of Weiner.

BANKING

White River Bancshares Co., the holding company for Signature Bank of Arkansas, announced the following employee appointments. Scott Sandlin has been promoted to chief strategy officer. Alexandria J. Gladden was promoted to market president in Springdale. Jason Orlicek was promoted to senior vice president/loan manager in Springdale. At its Rogers location, the team is made up of Knight Weis, president; Kurt Brungardt, vice president of mortgage lending; Kent Arnold, Business Development initiatives; Amy Rachel, bank manager for Rogers and Bentonville; Jake Sullins, assistant bank manager; Jean Zieber, consumer commercial loan coordinator; and Ashley Lindy, senior loan coordinator.

FINE ARTS

Gerry Snyder, dean of the School of Art at the Pratt Institute, has been hired as executive director of the School of Art at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. He starts July 1. Snyder will also hold the position of Distinguished Professor of art and be a special adviser to the chancellor for arts integration.

HEALTH CARE

Dr. Jennifer L. Hunt, chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Services at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, is among five physicians nationwide chosen for the Association of American Medical Colleges Council of Deans Fellowship Program. Hunt will attend American Medical Colleges Council board and executive committee meetings, and spend two weeks in residence with two deans chosen to serve as her mentors.

UTILITIES

David Wasson has been named senior manager of Entergy Arkansas Distribution Operations Southwest Region, based in Hot Springs. The Southwest region is made up of Montgomery, Garland, Hot Spring, Grant, Dallas, Clark, Nevada, Hempstead, Ouachita, Lafayette, Columbia, Calhoun and Union counties. Wasson replaces Todd Ederington, who retired.
