Where I live: live in the Hillcrest neighborhood of Little Rock with my husband, Tom, in a 1920s Craftsman-style bungalow that we have restored. It's been the childhood home of our two children, Lucas, 23, and Louisa, 20. After living in Los Angeles and Phoenix, we were drawn to the human scale of this neighborhood. We can walk or bike to the local schools, library, grocery store, parks, restaurants and visit with neighbors and friends along the way.
Occupation: I work as communications director at Economics Arkansas, a non-profit educational organization that teaches Pre-K and K-12 educators how to integrate economics into the curriculum.
My favorite space is: Our breakfast room. This is where we eat most meals, where the children did their homework, where I sew.
Why? So many good memories: The vintage round table is the first piece of furniture we bought, I painted the blue-and-white stripes on the walls when we moved in, near-daily dinners together strengthened our little family, and photographs showcase our daughter's talents as a ballet dancer.
If I could make one change to improve this space I would: I'd love to see a profusion of blooms of a rose or flowering vine that climbs up the pergola outside the window, but I've never managed to grow one.
