Soup Luncheon and Bake Sale
NEWPORT — The Newport Newcomers Club will host its annual Soup Luncheon and Bake Sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 619 Second St. Meals will be available to dine in or take out. Ghosts of Davidsonville Fall Festival
POCAHONTAS — Davidsonville Historic State Park, 8047 Arkansas 166 S. (a 15-minute drive south of Pocahontas) will present its Ghosts of Davidsonville Fall Festival from 5-9 p.m. The Ghosts of Davidsonville will stir from their graves and walk the land for a single night. Entrance to the festival is free, with food, merchandise, crafts and haunted hayrides all available for purchase by cash only. Hayrides cost $2 for ages 12 and younger and $4 for ages 13 and older. Husband-and-wife duo Kelly and Donna Muhollan will perform music from their latest CD, Cane Hill, the result of a project focused on the Northwest Arkansas town Cane Hill. Living History With Dr. David Swayne
CABOT— The Cabot Public Library, 909 W. Main St., will present Living History With Dr. David Swayne from 6:30-8 p.m. Oct. 17. An open reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. Swayne is a native of Cabot and attended veterinary school at the University of Missouri and graduate school at the University of Georgia. He has spent his career conducting research to solve disease problems in birds, principally bird flu. He is the laboratory director at the Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory in Athens, Georgia.
