Walter E. Hussman Jr., publisher of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, will give the Central Arkansas Library System's 2019 J.N. Heiskell Program, 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ron Robinson Theater, 100 River Market Ave., Little Rock.

Hussman's talk, titled "Newspapers and Journalism: Past, Present and Future," will focus on the newspaper industry, including the transition of the Democrat-Gazette to a Monday-Saturday digital-only format.

The talk is an annual event honoring the late J.N. Heiskell, who served as editor of the Arkansas Gazette for more than 70 years.

A pre-talk reception begins at 6 p.m. Admission is free; to make reservations, which the library system is requesting, visit cals.org.

WOWapalooza event

Brandi Passante of A&E's Storage Wars will be the master of ceremonies for the sixth annual WOWapolooza, a fundraiser for Women's Own Worth, a central Arkansas nonprofit dedicated to empowering survivors of domestic violence, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at the Arkansas Governor's Mansion, 1700 Center St., Little Rock. Tickets are $150. The event includes dinner and live and silent auctions. Country singer and Little Rock native Bailey Hefley will perform. A full symphony orchestra (featuring members of the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas) performs John Williams' musical score for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in concert as the film plays out in high-definition on a 40-foot screen, 7 p.m. Saturday at the Walmart AMP, 5079 W.
