TEXARKANA, Texas -- Texarkana College's Truman Arnold Student Center will host an Operation Stand Down For Veterans from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 18 inside the center, at 2500 N. Robison Road.

The six-hour program will be aimed at helping homeless veterans in Texarkana area.

The Texarkana Area Veterans Council estimates that there could be as many as 15 homeless veterans living on the streets of the twin cities.

The program will focus on all available Veterans Administration services and benefits, as well as on housing information, community resources, employment aid and education.

Besides the program, the event will have food available at the Heroes Pantry at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Robison Road, across from the college.
