State hub in works for opportunity zones

Efforts to set up a "one stop shop" for information about the state's 85 opportunity zones are ongoing, said Matt Twyford, director of community development for the Arkansas Economic Development Commission.

Twyford said Thursday that the commission has been working with Winrock International to bring all partners in the state together to promote the state's opportunity zones.

The opportunity zones program offers tax incentives to encourage those with capital gains to invest in low-income and undercapitalized communities, according to the Tax Policy Center of the Urban Institute and the Brookings Institution.
