MEN'S BASKETBALL

UAPB coach going into SWAC Hall of Fame

University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Coach George Ivory has been selected to the Southwestern Athletic Conference Hall of Fame.

The ceremony will take place Dec. 20 at the Omni Hotel in Atlanta.

Ivory was a four-year starter for Mississippi Valley State. He was named the conference freshman of the year following the 1983-84 season where he averaged 11.4 points and 5.1 assists per game.

As a sophomore, he averaged 9.4 points and 4.5 assists per game as the Delta Devils won 18 games.

He led the Delta Devils to 20 victories, a SWAC championship and a spot in the NCAA Tournament as a junior. He averaged 16 points and 5 assists per game in earning MVP honors in the conference tournament.

As a senior, he averaged 21.8 points per game and made 109 three-pointers.

Ivory is in his 12th season as UAPB's coach. He led the Golden Lions to the NCAA Tournament in 2010.

MEN'S SOCCER

Williams Baptist blanks William Woods

Gonzalo Gallego scored in the 59th minute to lead Williams Baptist College (6-2-3, 4-1-2 American Midwest Conference) past William Woods (3-10, 1-5) 1-0 on Friday in Walnut Ridge.

Raul Abellan provided the assist on Gallego's goal. Alejandro Perez made eight saves in recording his fourth shutout of the season.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

ASU-Troy play to draw

Sarah Sodoma scored in the fourth minute for Arkansas State University, and Melissa Kuya-Strobel scored in the 14th minute for Troy as the schools played to a 1-1 tie Friday in Jonesboro.

Arkansas State (7-4-2, 3-1-2 Sun Belt) outshot Troy (10-2-4, 4-1-2) 7-4. Megan McClure made three saves for the Red Wolves.

Haleigh Mercer made four saves for Troy.

Williams Baptist falls to William Woods

William Woods defeated Williams Baptist College 5-1 on Friday in Walnut Ridge.

Isabel Densmore scored in the 52nd minute after William Woods (6-7, 5-2 American Midwest Conference) took a 3-0 lead.

Jasmine Espinoza made eight saves for Williams Baptist (3-9, 2-6).

Hendrix loses at Centre

Hendrix College lost 7-0 to Centre College on Friday in Danville, Ky.

Hannah Bandura scored two goals for Centre (14-0-0, 3-0-0 Southern Athletic Association). Centre outshot Hendrix (5-4-5, 1-1-1) 31-3.

WOMEN'S GOLF

Razorbacks in 13th place

The University of Arkansas is in 13th place after the first round of the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The Razorbacks shot a 297. Wake Forest leads with a 282, while Kentucky and Alabama are tied for second at 283.

Individually, Arkansas' Brooke Matthews is in 15th place after shooting a 71.

VOLLEYBALL

Arkansas Tech sweeps SE Oklahoma

Arkansas Tech University defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State 25-22, 25-16, 25-17 on Friday in Durant, Okla.

Allie Anderson led the Golden Suns (12-6, 1-4 Great American Conference) with 11 kills. Emily Acker had 35 assists and Tymber Riley had 11 digs.

Hannah Grant led Southeastern Oklahoma (1-15, 1-5) with 13 kills.

Harding downs East Central

Harding University defeated East Central (Okla.) 25-9, 25-15, 25-19 on Friday in Ada, Okla.

Logan Smith led the Bisons (12-6, 4-2 Great American Conference) with 9 kills. Sarah Morehead had 31 assists and Katherine Cowart had 14 digs.

Aliyah Narcisse led East Central (2-18, 1-5) with 7 kills.

SAU drops NW Oklahoma

Southern Arkansas University swept Northwestern Oklahoma State 25-8, 25-19, 31-29 on Friday in Alva, Okla.

Seven Powers led SAU (2-14, 2-4 Great American Conference) with 12 kills. Bailey Cagle had six blocks, Bailey Kirk had eight digs and Morgan Schuster had 33 assists.

Kaydee Honeycutt led Northwestern Oklahoma State (13-7, 3-3) with 12 kills.

Lyon beats Harris-Stowe

Lyon College defeated Harris-Stowe State College 25-18, 25-17, 25-22 on Friday in Bartlesville, Okla.

Alley Edwards led Lyon (13-9, 4-3 American Midwest Conference) with 11 kills, while Gracen Ratliff had eight. Elizabeth Bairett had 15 assists.
