Everyone has them from time to time: bad ideas. The human brain can only put out so much genius before it occasionally comes up with New Coke.

The same human race that provided a vaccine for polio also gave us the mullet. Win some, lose some. And our president is no exception to this rule. See the front page for a list.

Last week President Trump suggested this one: "We ought to start our own network and put our own news out there." Who is "we," Mr. President? Like, the state, perhaps? Because if you're talking about your political party, it has its own propaganda organ at Fox News.

State-sponsored television is something done in places. Just not very democratic places. Chalk this up as another bad idea in a world full of them.

Besides, Sean Hannity already has a job.
