Police investigating Springdale teacher's conduct

SPRINGDALE -- Police are investigating a report a Springdale High School teacher had inappropriate social media interaction with a female student.

A girl who attends the school made the allegation in a report to police Monday, according to a Police Department news release.

Police are seeking to speak with anyone who may have knowledge about the reported activity. Anyone with information should call police at (479) 751-4542 or the anonymous tip line at (479) 750-4484.

Rick Schaeffer, the School District's communications director, said the district was informed of the issue Tuesday. Officials have taken steps to ensure the teacher has no student interaction, Schaeffer said. He wouldn't say in what capacity the teacher is working or whether the teacher has been suspended or terminated.

He declined further comment, saying it's a personnel issue.
