LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Not so much support; Go ahead--impeach; Behavior endorsed?

Not so much support

I am weary of hearing and reading that Donald Trump has the support of the American people. He does not have the support of a majority of the American people. I believe he is a national disgrace, always seeking photo-ops no matter the cost to freedom-loving people. He is corrupt, inept, lawless, a grifter, and a lethal threat to the security and sovereignty of the USA and our allies.

Congress, staff, donors and electors should not excuse Trump's actions by saying he is not from the political world, that he doesn't know better. If he wanted to be president, he should have properly prepared himself for the job. This is who this moron is and, apparently, has always been.

Our spineless Arkansas congressional delegation continues to remain loyal and abet this dangerous president who thinks it is perfectly proper to extort and sell out other countries to get what he wants and remain president. Equally alarming is our congressional delegation thinks what Trump is doing is okay. Possibly our Arkansas delegation should also be voted out of office.

Trump places himself in controversial, most likely illegal positions, then blames someone else for his actions and demands others bail him out when he gets in trouble. He manufactures lies for his "campaign circus" using his title and taxpayer funds to do so.

Trump has done nothing during his tenure but pursue things in his and his wealthy friends' and donors' best interest, including tax cuts for the wealthy and big corporations.

Donald Trump deserves impeachment and jail time for all the bad, consequential things he has done to this country's well-being, reputation, and safety, and to those good people and allies he has belittled and thrown under the bus.

Go ahead--impeach

Attention, Democrats. It's time to get off the dime and vote articles of impeachment for President Donald Trump. You've been talking about it since his inauguration day in 2017. Now screw up your courage and do it! I can't wait any longer.

Here's what will happen if you do. President Trump will be re-elected easily. The Republicans will win back the House of Representatives and increase their majority in the Senate. Judges who will protect the Constitution will be appointed in huge numbers. And the United States will enter a golden age of prosperity.

China and Europe will agree to reasonable/fair trade agreements. China cannot afford four more years of a contracting economy. Europeans will gladly pay their fair share for NATO protection. And Russia will be more reasonable in their excursions. Iran will calm down. And U.S. immigration laws will permit legal entry to qualified aliens who will abide by our laws and contribute positively to our society.

America will be respected around the world. And radical Muslims will be crushed. What's not to like?

Oh, one more thing. You will save me from making my normal contribution to the president's re-election campaign. He won't need it. His coffers will "runneth" over, and your impeachment charade will crater. C'mon, do it. I can't wait.

Behavior endorsed?

I did not vote for any of the members of my Congressional delegation. When losing my vote, I was comforted by the belief that those elected were honorable people.

After watching President Trump's devious, dishonorable, disreputable, dishonest, and deceitful behavior since his inauguration, I am beginning to have doubts on that score.

Sen. Tom Cotton, Sen. John Boozman, and Rep. Steve Womack need to immediately issue strong statements condemning the president's behavior. If they don't have the courage to go against a fellow Republican, they should at least have the decency to resign.

Failure on their part to speak out or act can only be interpreted as an endorsement of the president's devious, dishonorable, disreputable, dishonest, deceitful behavior.

A perfect pool party

What if one person on one street invited each house on that street to join a prayer pool? The notification could be offered in person or as a note on their door. The recipients would be given an email address of the person with the information about the prayer pool, and be asked to provide their email address if interested. Each week everyone on the list would be notified of what their neighbors were praying for and be requested to join in prayer with them. There would be no obligation to share a request with the pool. Personal information need not be given, and names may be changed. Everyone in the pool can ask to be taken off the list by emailing the person at the head of the pool. This is a powerful tool; it is not a joke.

No one could ever drown in this pool. Most likely it would keep them buoyed up, and strength and calmness will ensue. Without leaving the comfort of home, everyone can reap the benefits of this pool. Maybe it will spread to the next street, and the next, and the next, flooding our city, our state, and even our nation!

Police appreciated

Following all the tragedy in Texas recently, I would just like to state publicly that I deeply appreciate our police department here in Pulaski County.

Over the decades, I have seen them time and time again deal patiently and professionally with agitated and upset people. I feel comfortable calling on them should I need to. They have one of the hardest jobs imaginable, and they do it to the best of their ability.

Thank you, officers.
