Nutrient trading group to meet

The next meeting of the Northwest Arkansas Nutrient Trading Research and Advisory Group is set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Illinois River Watershed Partnership building at 221 S. Main St. in Cave Springs.

The group is responsible for recommending how the state carries out a "nutrient trading" program to improve water quality.

Nutrient trading would allow a wastewater treatment plant that is below the state's required level of cleaning its waste water of phosphorus and nitrogen to make a deal with another plant, in effect selling part of its limit.
