Supreme Court justice, pop culture icon speaks

Thousands of people filled Verizon Arena on Sept. 3 to hear Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, guest speaker for the Clinton School of Public Service Kumpuris Distinguished Lecture Series.

Ginsburg was introduced by former President Bill Clinton who noted that the justice he nominated far exceeded his expectations and one thing he did not see coming was that she would become a pop culture icon.

Nina Totenburg, who has covered the Supreme Court for NPR, served as moderator. She asked Ginsburg, who completed radiation just weeks ago for pancreatic cancer, why she was there. Ginsburg said simply she had promised the Clinton Presidential Center that she would be there. She added she was "... pleased to say, I'm feeling very good tonight."
