'MacArthur movies'

The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, 503 E. Ninth St., Little Rock, will screen Among the Missing, a documentary examination of whether soldiers were left behind in captivity at the close of the Vietnam War, 6:30 p.m. today. 'Monster Groovez'

Jonesboro blues-jazz singer 'Lectric Liz Lottmann and her band — LaLa Craig, keyboards; Marcus "Mookie" Cartwright, guitar; Cecil Parker, drums; Ivan Yarbrough, bass; and Ocie Fisher, vocals — perform at 7 p.m. today on the outdoor Terry Scoggins Memorial Stage on Front Street in downtown Newport, part of the KASU/Arkansas Steel Associates "Monster Groovez" concert series. Admission is free; attendees are encouraged to provide their own folding chairs or blankets. In case of rain, the concert moves into Front Street restaurant Frankie's Place. Nine artistic fellows

Nine Arkansans are receiving $4,000 Individual Artist Fellowships to pursue individual projects from the Arkansas Arts Council, in conjunction with the state Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism:

• In sculpture and installation art — Holly Laws of Mayflower, Linda Nguyen Lopez of Fayetteville and Greely Myatt of West Memphis.

• In choreography — Matthew Boyce and Robin Neveu Brown of North Little Rock and Paiyin Lin-Mros of Hot Springs.

• In novel writing — Tyrone Jaeger and John Vanderslice of Conway, Monica Clark-Robinson of Alexander.

The nine will receive recognition at a reception, 4-6:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at Fayetteville's Walton Arts Center, 495 W. Dickson St., as part of ArtLinks, the Arts Council's statewide arts conference. Email robin.mcclea@arkansas.gov or visit arkansasarts.org/artlinks.

Grant workshop

The Arkansas Arts Council, in partnership with the Central Arkansas Library System, will hold a workshop with consultant Brenda Mauldin on the basics of researching grant opportunities through the Foundation Center's Foundation Directory Online, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 29 on the third floor of CALS Main Library, 100 S. Rock St., Little Rock. It's part of the Arts Council's GetSmART! Learning Series. Participants should provide a thumb drive to save research results.
