EDITORIAL: No-tre Dame

The powerful SEC—not to be confused with its little brother, the national Securities and Exchange Commission—made a decision on football last week. It plans 10 games, starting on Sept. 26. That means, among a host of other things, that there’ll be no Arkansas-Notre Dame game played this year.

How a football season will actually happen is anybody’s guess. Actually, after listening to sports radio the last two weeks, it may be everybody’s guess. To some of us, it seems impossible to socially distance while playing football. For cryin’ out loud, they’re canceling baseball games in the majors because of covid-19 outbreaks.

The good news is that Sept. 26 is nearly two full months away. And if the rolling averages of viral infections keeps going up in this nation, the season can be further postponed. Or even canceled. Folks, if they can cancel March Madness, they can cancel a college football season.

Wear a mask.
