UCA will battle Missouri St. twice

The University of Central Arkansas will play Missouri State twice this season in a home-and-home format, it was announced Friday by Missouri State. The first matchup will be Sept. 26 in Conway, and the second will be on Oct. 17 in Springfield, Mo., with both games starting at 7 p.m.

"The health and safety of our student-athletes was paramount throughout this process," Missouri State Athletic Director Kyle Moats said in a news release. "I also want to thank Brad Teague at UCA for his willingness to play home and home in the same year. Their proximity made perfect sense for us to play, and it allows us to be fiscally responsible while adhering to the NCAA guidelines."

This announcement came just one day after the Southland Conference announced its conference schedule would be moved to the spring due to the coronavirus pandemic. Despite this, UCA plans to play an 11-game fall schedule with nonconference opponents only.

With Missouri State now on the schedule twice, that gives UCA a total of four games this season as of right now. Teague said Thursday that he hopes to put together a full schedule over the next couple of weeks, and has had interest from multiple FBS schools.

The Bears open the season against Austin Peay in Montgomery, Ala., on Aug. 29, and will travel to Jonesboro to face Arkansas State University on Sept. 19.
