Found body ID'd as Spa City man

HOT SPRINGS -- The death of a missing Hot Springs man whose body was found Friday in Pope County is being investigated as a homicide, Hot Springs police said Monday.

Police received a report Wednesday of a missing person, identified as Christopher Lee Jennings, 20, who had not been seen or heard from since July 28, Hot Springs police said in a news release.

Hot Springs detectives began interviewing potential witnesses and following up on leads while continuing their investigation, officer Omar Cervantes, the department's community relations officer, said in the release.

Detectives were notified Friday of a possible location for Jennings. Deputies with the Pope County sheriff's office and agents with the Arkansas State Police were contacted, and located the body of a white male believed to be Jennings in Pope County.

The body was sent to the state Crime Lab for an autopsy, and Monday the lab notified detectives the body had been positively identified as Jennings.

"The Hot Springs Police Department is investigating this case as a homicide," Cervantes said.
