MUSIC: Metal micro-fest to stream for free

Extreme metal fans can get their dosage of heaviness online during the annual Mutants of the Monster micro-festival, which takes place virtually starting Friday and ending Saturday.

The festival, presented by Arkansas Times, begins each day at 7 p.m. and will air on the Times' YouTube channel, tinyurl.com/y2za69zh.

Friday's lineup includes -16-, Wvrm, Hull, Rebelmatic, Redbait, Barishi, Heavy Temple and Dorthia Cottrell.

Performers on Saturday include The Body, Terminal Nation, Deadbird, Eye Flys, Oakskin, SixKillsNine and Dirty Streets.

Speakers include "Little Punk People" host Elliot Fullam, producer Michael Alago, actor Ashlie Atkinson, journalist Laina Dawes and others.

If you can't view a show at its scheduled time, performances will remain on the channel after the livestream, says promoter Christopher Terry.

There is no paywall, but donations will be accepted to support the bands. The festival is also raising funds for Intransitive's Brayla Stone microgrants for Black trans women and girls in Arkansas and for El Zocalo Immigrant Resource Center in Central Arkansas.
