Authorities are investigating after a body was discovered early Sunday morning in Coleman Creek near 28th Street, University of Arkansas at Little Rock officials told students in an email Sunday.

The deceased individual is not believed to be related to the campus community, UALR said. Authorities believe the individual had been dead for some time, with the body likely washed down the creek by recent heavy rains, according to the university statement.

The university police department, the Little Rock Police Department, and the Pulaski County coroner's office are investigating, according to UALR's message
