Library to expand curbside services
The William F. Laman Public Library System announced Tuesday that it has expanded curbside services.
Children's book bundles are now available as are printing and notary services, the library system said in a news release.
Book bundles will include crafts or prizes for each reader. The library will also have Mystery Craft Boxes at the Argenta Branch. The new crafts will be unveiled on the second Sunday of every month on the Argenta Branch's Facebook page.
Officials working on early vote plan
The William F. Laman Public Library System announced Tuesday that officials are working on a plan to have early voting at the library.
Residents who are planning to vote by mail can request applications for absentee ballots. The library can help by printing the applications and a copy of people's identification cards.
No further plans were announced with regard to Election Day and the early voting period.
Day to remember homicide victims
A day of remembrance for homicide victims, scheduled for Sept. 26, received approval Thursday from North Little Rock.
A parade of cars will drive from 17th and Main streets to the parking lot of Dickey Stephens Park. Parents of Murdered Children Inc. is organizing the event.
Parents of Murdered Children provides ongoing emotional support for parents and other survivors dealing with their grief, according to the organization's website.
Event organizers said in their application to the city that there will be no gathering outside the cars, and there will be one speaker on Zoom for those attending the event.
Parents of Murdered Children has held its event on the Capitol steps for the past eight years, but event organizers said they weren't allowed to do that this year because of the covid-19 pandemic.
