Accidents on roadways kill 4 Arkansans

Four Arkansans died and three were injured over three days on Arkansas roadways last last week, according to the Arkansas State Police.

Norman Akins, 64, of Rogers was walking across a street in Rogers when he was struck by a vehicle and killed Thursday night. Akins was struck at 8:42 p.m. by a 2017 Toyota Tacoma that was traveling south on South Eighth Street near Beacon Circle, the state police report summary said.

Akins died at the scene, according to the report.

Thomas Ferrell, 56, of Pangburn died early Friday after his vehicle rammed into a camper trailer that had become detached from a Chevrolet Silverado, a crash report summary said. His 2002 Toyota Avalon was traveling west on Interstate 30 in Little Rock when the crash occurred about 5:30 a.m.

Also Friday, a one-vehicle crash in Saline County killed Brittany Harmon, 39, of Conway who was a passenger in a 2014 Chevrolet being driven by Hot Springs National Park resident Terra Smith, 35, a crash summary said. The vehicle was traveling east on Interstate 30 about 1:15 p.m. when it left the roadway near the 106 mile marker and struck a tree, the report said.

Harmon was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, the report said. Smith was taken to Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton and later transferred to UAMS in Little Rock, the report said.

On Saturday morning, Thomas Garland, 44, of Camden was killed when his 2008 Chrysler crossed the centerline and struck a 2009 Ford on Northwest Avenue near Brazle Road in El Dorado, a crash summary said.

The crash occurred at 8:35 a.m. Saturday.

Traveling in the Ford were Crossett residents Ronald Pack, 60, and Nikki Pack, 52, who were injured. They were taken to the Medical Center of South Arkansas for treatment, the report said.
