CONWAY -- Guests walked a red carpet, were handed the evening's signature drink and viewed live vignettes from the musical Into the Woods as they headed backstage for Bard Ball on Feb. 1 at the University of Central Arkansas Reynolds Performance Hall.

The annual fundraiser for Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre (AST) began with drinks, a silent auction and a chance to meet featured performer De'Lon Grant. Grant, an alumnus of AST, is currently starring in the Broadway musical, Come From Away.

Later, guests were invited into a woodland setting on stage to enjoy a buffet and a program with Jess Prichard, another alumnus, serving as emcee. In addition to a performance by Grant, and a live auction, the evening's co-chairmen Karla and Judge Troy Braswell, artistic director Rebekah Scallet and Executive Director Mary Ruth Marotte, spoke about AST, the state's only professional Shakespeare theater company.
