Sixty-two young women in white gowns and satin gloves made their debut Dec. 21 at the annual Alpha Phi Alpha Debutante Scholarship Ball. The festivities were hosted by the Central Arkansas Sphinx Foundation in conjunction with the Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

Attendees were welcomed to the ball by Reginald Jackson, president of the Central Arkansas Sphinx Foundation. Lee Honorable gave the invocation. After the presentation of the debutantes, they waltzed with their presenters and then their escorts.

A program after dinner included scholarship presentations and the announcing and crowning of Miss Pi Lambda, Emanie Montgomery. Closing remarks by Pi Lambda Chapter President Charles King and Debutante Ball Chairman Carl Hayes were followed by Alpha Phi Alpha members singing the Alpha Hymn.
