The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville Arkansas Water Resources Center is accepting applications until March 11 for federal water research funding, the center announced last week.

The U.S. Geological Survey and the National Institute for Water Resources will make no more than $250,000 available in a one-to-one matching grant program to applicants. The grant is the 104G Federal Competitive Grant Program.

Arkansas applicants must apply through the Arkansas Water Resources Center. Before applying, they must contact the center’s director, Brian Haggard.

This year’s research priorities are: hydraulic monitoring data to manage waters during emergency weather events; adjusting to water scarcity or water availability issues; the quantity and quality of flowing water; and harmful algal blooms.

Proposals must be limited to those priorities, according to the Water Resources Center.

Several topics are ineligible for funding, and they can be found in the 33-page federal request for proposals, which the Water Resources Center has linked to here: https://arkansaswater-center.uark.edu/index/FY2020_104g_RFP-min.pdf.

Higher-education institutions can apply. Projects can range from one to three years.
