Carlisle has shut down its football workouts because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Carlisle Athletic Director BJ Greene told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette on Thursday that a football player was exposed to a person outside the program who has tested positive. The player was not named because of privacy laws.

The Carlisle football player was tested Thursday and will quarantine for 14 days, Greene said.

Carlisle is the fourth known football team in the state this summer to shut down its program because of covid-19 along with Jonesboro, Lake Hamilton and Mountain Pine.

Football teams were allowed to return to school facilities to have in-person workouts June 1 under Gov. Asa Hutchinson and the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines.
