• Hastings Music & Video in the Market Place Shopping Center in west Little Rock has closed, and it appears that it will make way for a new Blockbuster Video store. "Thank you for calling Hastings in the Market Place," says the store's recorded phone message. "We regret to inform you we are closed." Skip Hoggard, manager of the Market Place Hastings store, confirmed that the store had been purchased by Blockbuster and that Hastings had closed Tuesday. A sign was placed on the door Wednesday telling customers about the sale. Hoggard said the sale didn't force any of the store's employees out of a job. "We've transferred all the employees that wanted to stay with the company to other stores," Hoggard said.

• The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating the weekend sinking of a tug at the Little Rock Port, an agency spokesman said Monday. No injuries were reported in the incident, and the company leasing the vessel took steps to limit the diesel fuel it carried from leaking into the Arkansas River, said Lt. Cmdr. Michael Block, chief of inspections for the Coast Guard's Sector Lower Mississippi office in Memphis. The tug carried no more than 2,000 gallons of diesel, he said. Little Rock Harbor Service, which leases the Motor Vessel Stafford, hired a diver to plug the fuel vents and hired an environmental company to deploy a hard boom and an absorbent boom to contain the fuel, which was removed, Block said. The environmental company also is monitoring the site to "make sure anything else that leaks is immediately collected," he said. "Trace amounts leaked, causing a slight sheen." The Stafford sank in 30 feet of water some time between Friday evening and Saturday morning, said Paula Hastings, the company's vice president. It was tied to another vessel just east of the harbor but still on Little Rock Port Authority property, she said.
