JP Braunfisch was a three-sport athlete at Episcopal Collegiate.

Braunfisch played football, basketball and baseball, which made him one of the busiest students at the Little Rock private school.

Time management was crucial, he said.

"I was planning ahead," Braunfisch said. "You had to look at the schedule. If there was a basketball game on a Thursday night, I'd work on what was due Friday on Wednesday.

"I had to communicate and be upfront with my teachers and coaches. I had to accept help at times. That was the biggest thing I did."

Braunfisch performed well in the classroom, recording a 4.25 GPA and a 34 on the ACT.

Braunfisch took five Advanced Placement classes. His favorite classes were AP Literature and Economics/Entrepreneurship.

"It was discussion-based," Braunfisch said of those two classes. "I enjoyed it."

Episcopal Collegiate was a special place for Braunfisch, who said the school allowed students to excel.

"Episcopal is so great at encouraging students to do whatever their heart desires," Braunfisch said.

Braunfisch will attend Southern Methodist University in Dallas and plans to major in finance. He's also shown interest in political science.

"I could see myself finding a job in that field," Braunfisch said of politics. "I want to broaden my horizons and make the most of the experience [at SMU]."
