TEXARKANA -- For the first time in many years, Miller County's early voting will not be held in the courthouse this fall in an effort to meet social distancing requirements and address safety concerns, an election official said.
The Cabe Fellowship Center at First Methodist Church will host the 13 days of early voting to be held from Oct. 19 through Nov. 2. There will be no Election Day voting at the Cabe center on Nov. 3, said Linda Crawford, Miller County election coordinator. The center is at 400 E. Sixth St. in downtown Texarkana.
The Cabe center will allow a larger space for voting equipment to be spread out and accommodate social distancing, she said.
Early voting dates and times at the Cabe center will be:
• Monday, Oct. 19 to Friday, Oct. 23, and Monday, Oct. 26 to Friday, Oct. 30, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Saturday, Oct. 24 and Saturday, Oct. 31, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
mMonday, Nov. 2, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
During the last three days of early voting, three additional sites will be open. They are: Central Baptist Church, 2117 East 35th St., Texarkana; Stanley Davis Community Center, 203 E. Redcut Road, Fouke; and Sugar Hill United Methodist Church, 1621 Sugar Hill Road, Texarkana. Early voting days and hours at those locations will be Thursday, Oct. 29, and Friday, Oct. 30, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Monday, Nov. 2, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
These Election Day voting sites are open 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3:
