LITTLE ROCK — Two men died in a head-on collision last week in the state, Arkansas State Police said.
A 1997 Chevrolet pickup driven by Matthew McClellan, 38, of Wynne, crossed the centerline and struck a 1995 Lincoln Towncar driven by Joseph Criss, 34, also of Wynne about 7:05 a.m. Wednesday, according to a preliminary fatal crash summary.
The pickup was traveling north and the car was traveling south on Arkansas 284, at Arkansas 350, near Wynne, the county seat of Cross County in northeast Arkansas.
The men were among at least five people who lost their lives in crashes on Arkansas roads since Tuesday, according to state police.
Hannah Housley, 18, of Marshall, was driving a 2018 Nissan Sentra west on Arkansas 74 toward Landis in Searcy County in north Arkansas about 12:10 a.m. Tuesday when the vehicle traveled off the road, and struck a culvert and a tree, according to a preliminary fatal crash summary.
The car overturned and came to a rest on its top. The driver was killed.
A 58-year-old man died after a vehicle he was driving Tuesday afternoon flipped over and struck a tree, state police said.
Gary S. Lloyd of Warren was driving a Ford north on U.S. 63 in rural Bradley County around 4:25 p.m. when his vehicle veered off the road, according to a state police preliminary crash report.
The Ford went into a ditch, then into the air before striking a tree and rolling over, the report states. State police did not list anyone else as injured.
Earlier Tuesday, a 46-year-old man died after his SUV veered off Interstate 49 in Lowell, state police said.
Marcus Trollinger of Springdale was driving north on I-49 around 2:20 p.m. when his GMC Yukon went off the road to the right and struck a bridge pillar, according to a preliminary report.
